An early morning wrong-way crash on Route 3 sent a 84-year-old woman to the hospital in critical condition.
Police were called to the westbound side of Route 3, near Hackensack River bridge at approximately 7:45 this morning for a report of a crash.
Upon arrival, police found a Dodge Neon - driven by a Cherry Hill woman - was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes, when she crashed into a BMW - driven by a Secaucus man - that was headed in the proper direction.
The driver of the BMW was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.
The Cherry Hill woman - who was extricated from the vehicle - was also taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she's listed in critical condition.
Police continue to investigate the crash that caused several Route 3 lanes to close for over two hours.
