Harrison Couple Robbed by Suspects Armed with Machine Gun

An early Sunday morning robbery that happened in Harrison has police investigating.

Police said, at about 4:45 a.m., the couple parked their car on Essex Street near Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard when a male suspect exited a car and approached the couple, with a machine gun authorities said.

Police said the suspects placed the gun to the victim's head and stole the man's jewelry and cellphone, then demanded his car keys where they then ransacked the car. The woman's jewelry was also taken according to authorities.

Th suspects then fled the scene in in a vehicle that was occupied by at least two other people.

Police reportedly located the suspect's vehicle in Elizabeth and towed in for processing.

Police are not sure if the armed robbery was connected with a brutal assault of a 28-year-old man who was brutally beaten near the train station Saturday morning.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
