Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced a college professor living in Aberdeen was arrested and charged Thursday with child pornography-related offenses.
Authorities believe there is a potential for additional victims and have included a photograph with this release to aid any victims and urge them to come forward.
Robert S. Berardo, 56, of Aberdeen, is charged with one count each of second degree endangering the welfare of a child for distribution of child pornography, second degree endangering the welfare of a child for possession of child pornography with intent to distribute, and third degree endangering the welfare of a child for possession of child pornography.
Berardo is an adjunct professor at Middlesex County College and Raritan Valley College, and a former adjunct professor at Monmouth University.
Berardo also coached teams in the Aberdeen/Matawan Recreation girls' softball league from 2001 – 2008, and coached the Aberdeen/Matawan Recreation travel girls' softball team from 2008-2009.

Berardo is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold Township, on $110,000 without an option to post ten percent, as set by Municipal Court Judge Michael Pugliese, who also set conditions for his release that require him not to use the Internet and to have no unsupervised contact with children under 18.
If convicted of the second degree offenses, Berardo faces a sentence of five to ten years in prison on each count. The third degree charge carries a sentence of three to five years in prison. All the charges could come with an additional sentence subjecting him to the provisions of “Megan’s Law” as well as Parole Supervision for Life.
