Authorities are at the scene of a fatal shooting this afternoon at a shopping center in Atlantic City.
According to police, officers responded to the Tanger Outlets sometime around noon after reports of shots fired. As a precaution police reportedly placed the shopping center on lockdown for approximately an hour, as they investigated.
Based on preliminary investigations, a male suspect appears to have shot and killed another man over what police described a domestic related matter. Adding that the incident is not an active shooter situation.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead while the suspect - who is in police custody -was also injured after sustaining a self inflicted gunshot wound.
According to officials, there is no on-going threat to the public related to this matter.
The incident is under investigation by Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Atlantic City Police Department and the State Police are investigating.
