Police Arrest Man Wanted for Burglary, Two Men for Car Theft

Newark Police arrested Angel Gonzalez, 34, of Newark on Wednesday.

Police said Gonzalez had been wanted for burglary.

Authorities said officers canvassing the area of Broadway and 2nd Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. recognized the suspect as a wanted person and placed him under arrest without incident.

Newark Police also arrested Taivon Pearce, 21, of Newark and Sharod Saunders, 19, of Irvington on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 for a car theft authorities said.

According fo police approximately 5:15 p.m., officers observed a white 4-door Nissan Sentra driving on the wrong side of Frelinghuysen Avenue and Van Vechten Street. Officers determined that the vehicle occupied by the two men was stolen.

Both Pearce and Saunders are charged with recieving stolen property.

Pearce was also issued summonses for careless driving, driving while suspended and contempt authorities said.

These are accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
