Officials confirmed that two people have been charged with the death of Tyrita Julius, 41, of Linden, who was reported missing from a Long Branch train station back in March.
Earlier today, police responded to the 200 block of Joline Avenue in Long Branch, where they reportedly found evidence which led to charges against Jennifer Sweeney, 33, of Tinton Falls, and Andre Harris, 32, of Long Branch. Further investigation at the home, determined Julius was killed and buried under 3 feet of soil, wrapped in a plastic tarp.
Officials added that the entire backyard of the home where Julius was found is expected to be excavated.
Harris and Sweeney have been charged with murder, desecration of human remains and tampering with physical evidence.
Both defendants made their first court appearance Wednesday afternoon, where their bail set at $1.5 million cash each.
Although authorities declined to comment on a motive for the killing, they did say defendants and Julius were good friends. Contrary to initial reports, Julius never boarded a train in Long Branch.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
