Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Hospitalizes Man in Newark; Woman Arrested

A pedestrian strike that happened near the Newark Police Headquarters left a man seriously injured Friday evening.

According to authorities, at approximately 4:50 p.m., a 28-year old male pedestrian was struck in the intersection of Bergen Street and Clinton Avenue.

Police said, as the victim was crossing the street, a Dodge Avenger crossed onto the opposite side of the roadway, striking him.

Authorities identified the driver as, **Tiffany N. Carpenter, 21, of Dunnmore, PA,** then fled the scene.

Newark Police apprehended her on Osborne Terrace.

Carpenter has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim authorities said.

Arresting officers also issued the driver summonses for: leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, crossing double yellow lines, reckless driving and unsafe operation.

The victim was transported to University Hospital and is said to be in stable condition authorities said.

**These are mere allegations lodged against Carpenter. She is considered innocent until proven guilty, or enters a guilty plea in a court of law.**
