Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double shooting.
Two men were shot last night in the 100 block of Broad Street at approximately 11:38 p.m.
Bilal D. Rodgers, 25, of Newark died from his injuries at 2:24 a.m. today at University Hospital.
The second victim, a 19-year-old male from Newark, survived and is in stable condition.
At this time no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
