Police Investigate Separate Pedestrian Strikes in Newark

Three incidents where pedestrians were struck by vehicles in Newark has police investigating.

All of the incidents happened in the early evening hours around the city and had EMS transport the victims to the hospital.

According to reports, at around 5:20 p.m., emergency responders were called to the 400 block of Broadway where they located a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at that location. The victim was taken to University hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

At around 6:30 p.m., EMS rushed to the Dollar Tree parking lot for reports of a child struck by a vehicle at that location.

Emergency responders arrived to find the child suffering a non-fatal injury after being struck by a vehicle when emergency crews transported the child to University Hospital. The driver of the vehicle that struck the child stayed at the scene.

A pedestrian stuck by a vehicle in the area of Springfield Avenue and South 18th Street at around 6:25 p.m. had EMS rush to the scene to find the victim alert and conscious at that location after being struck by a vehicle.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

Newark Police are handling the investigations into all of the incidents.
