Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a homicide in the city on Saturday.
Camden County Police responded at approximately 2:55 a.m. on Saturday to the 1200 block of Whitman Avenue in Camden in reference to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple gunshots.
Officers arrived and located two victims, Patrick Lowe, 57 and Tauhid Taylor, 32, both from Camden suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to Cooper University Hospital where Lowe succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Taylor was listed in stable condition after surgery.
An investigation into the shooting revealed the shooter was Vyron J. Johnson, 29, of Camden.
Johnson was arrested by US Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force officers, assisted by Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden County Police Department, at approximately 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of South 6th and Royden Streets, in Camden.
Johnson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Patrick Lowe (bail set at $2,000,000.00 full cash) and first-degree attempted murder (bail set at $1,000,000.00 full cash) of Tauhid Taylor.
He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of posting bail.
