Jersey City Man Accused of Beating Daughter's Co-Worker with Bat

A Jersey City man is accused of beating his daughter's co-worker with a baseball bat outside a Bayonne Walmart parking lot, authorities said.

Police responded to the Walmart parking lot at Bayonne Crossing Thursday after an argument turned physical, according to police.

Upon arrival, police found 59-year-old Carlos Alfonso, his wife, their daughter and a 24-year-old Jersey city man had been involved in a physical altercation. According to police, a dispute between Alonso and his daughter's co-worker turned physical after Alfonso struck the city man in the head with a wooden bat.

The victim who suffered unspecified injuries refused medical attention.

Alfonso was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. His bail was set at $10,000 with a 10 percent cash option.
