Authorities announced the arrests of as many as 46 people early this morning in New Jersey, New York City, Boston, Miami and New Haven, Connecticut.
According to preliminary reports,
the long-running racketeering ring investigation into crime families such as Genovese, Gambino, Luchese, Bonanno, and La Cosa Nostra led to the arrest of 46 individuals including four New Jersey residents.
The following men were listed among those in custody, according to the U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, Southern District of New York:
Daniel Marino Jr., 49, of Short Hills
Anthony Cirillo, 51, Englewood Cliffs
Anthony Cassetta, 48, of Belmar
Marco Minuto, 80, of Upper Saddle River
The four New Jersey men were charged with racketeering
And all could face up to 20 years in prison.
Aside from arrests made in New Jersey, many others arrested in Boston, New York, New Haven, Conn., and Miami.
The identities of the remaining arrests have not been released but according to officials charges range from extortion, arson, illegal gambling, credit card fraud, firearms trafficking and dealing in untaxed cigarettes.
