Man Robs Parsippany Ice Cream Store at Knifepoint

A 44-year-old Parsippany man was arrested after he allegedly robbed Lake Hiawatha Dairy at knifepoint Friday night.

Police responded to Lake Hiawatha Dairy, located on the 70's block of North Beverwyck Road shortly after 10:30 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers assisted the caller and three employees out of the restroom where they hid to call police.

According to store employees, a heavy set man last seen wearing a brown and yellow shirt with rolled up jeans entered the store armed with a knife, demanding they had over money.

As officers checked the surrounding area, onlookers directed officers to the alley next to the building, where a male was seen running into.

There police found, Arjuna Ganesan, crouching down by a doorway in the alley.

He was taken into custody and found in possession of three knives and the cash stolen from the ice cream store.

Ganesan was charged with first-degree robbery, three counts of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, theft of movable property and criminal mischief.

He was remanded to Morris county Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 with no 10-percent option.
