Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting.
According to authorities, at approximately 5 p.m. Friday, **Jeffrey J. Hamlin, 27,** of Newark was shot multiple times in the 600 block of South 20th Street.
He was pronounced dead at 5:21 pm at University Hospital in Newark authorities said.
There have been no suspects apprehended and investigation is active and ongoing.
