South Amboy Man Charged After False Bomb Threat Aboard NJ Transit Train

A 29-year-old South Amboy

man forced the evacuation of a NJ Transit train yesterday after he allegedly made a threat aboard the train Monday evening.

Mohammed H. Mahmoud was charged with causing a false public alarm and interference with transportation. He was taken into custody and transported to Newark Beth Israel Hospital for a psychological evaluation around 6 p.m., Smith said.

According to Port Authority police, the passenger made a "terroristic-type verbal threats" and mentioned a bomb shortly before the train - occupied by approximately

800 people aboard - was stopped at the Newark Liberty International Airport.

Based on preliminary investigations, it is believed that dispute between thre two males quickly escalated.

The investigation into the incident is activr and ongoing.
