Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said a 48-year-old Toms River man pleaded guilty today to a charge of creating a false public alarm by waving a BB gun out of a vehicle while riding in Woodbridge.
Carlo Goias pleaded guilty to the charge during a hearing in New Brunswick before Superior Court Judge Alberto Rivas.
In exchange for the guilty plea, the defendant will be placed on a probationary term of up to three years when he is sentenced on October 14, 2016.
The guilty plea was entered after the defendant reached an agreement with Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Bina Desai.
Goias was charged after Woodbridge residents called police, saying they saw a man leaning out the window of a moving vehicle and waiving a gun on November 16, 2015.
