LoJack Assists Roselle Park Police Recover Stolen Vehicle; Suspect Arrested

According to police, a Roselle Park resident reported that their vehicle was stolen this morning at approximately 7:20 a.m.

A subsequent police investigation included contacting LoJack and the vehicle owner's finance company who assisted in obtaining the current location of the vehicle via GPS and LoJack police said.

Sgt. Michael Wielgus responded to the East 3rd Avenue address just over the border in Roselle where the vehicle was located parked with a male sitting in the drivers seat.

Police ordered the driver out of the car.

The suspect initially complied but then fled on foot, jjumping over several fences in the residential area authorities said.

With the assistance of Roselle Police and the Union County Sheriff's K-9 Unit, the suspect was located hiding under a landscaping trailer police said.

Kendjy Phillipe, 21, whose last known addresses was in Edison and Linden, was arrested and charged with 2C:20-receiving stolen property 3rd degree and 2C:29-2(3) - resisting arrest.

Two Roselle Park police officers were injured as a result of the foot pursuit authorities said.

Phillipe was remanded to Union County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
