Update: Maplewood Man Found Dead in Union Township Yard

A homicide that took place in Union Township is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Matthew Murrell of Maplewood.

Police responded to a home on the 800 block of Salem Road in Union shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday to find the body of Murrell in the yard.

He was pronounced dead a short while later.

A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Union Police Department, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office’s Identification Unit remains ongoing.
