Pennsylvania Man Arrested After Fraud at Linden TGI Fridays

Linden

A 21-year-old Pennsylvania man was arrested after a foot chase on July 1st after he and two other men attempted to purchase Fridays gift cards using fraudulent credit cards.

The TGI Fridays' manager called police at 12:14 AM Friday to report the suspicious transactions. When officers arrived, the trio bolted out the front door of the restaurant fleeing in different directions.

Officers pursued one suspect, who ran across Routes 1&9, nearly causing several accidents, and chased him over a fence where he was eventually apprehended on the 600 block of Mack Place.

The man, later identified as Tariq Aquill Henson, age 21, of Tobyhanna, Pa., refused officer commands and was issued a dose of pepper spray.

He later complained of difficulty breathing and was given oxygen by arresting officers but refused transportation to a hospital.

Henson was charged with two counts of resisting arrest and credit card fraud. He had identification and several credit cards in the name of a different individual from Pennsylvania.

During the chase, a Linden police sergeant injured his left shoulder after falling down an embankment.

Henson is being held at the Union County Jail on $25,000 bail pending a court date later this week. The other two suspects escaped apprehension.
