Burlington County authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian strike that happened in Mount Laurel early this morning.
The incident happened near mile marker 38.3 of the northbound lanes at around 4 a.m. in Mount Laurel where emergency responders were called to the scene for an injured person at that location.
Crews arrived to the scene to find the badly injured, unconscious, and unresponsive victim who they pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was struck by a tractor trailer but it was not immediately clear why the victim was on the highway.
The incident remains under investigation.
