Police are investigating an overnight crash on the Garden State Parkway that sent at least one person to the hospital suffering serious injuries.
The crash happened at around 11 p.m. in the northbound lanes near the Union toll plaza where emergency responders were called to the scene for a crash with injuries according to reports.
Crews arrived to the scene to find about four vehicle involved in the crash with one of the vehicles overturned and one person trapped inside.
Emergency responders were able to extricate the victim in a short period of time then hand over the victim to EMS who made the transport to University Hospital in Newark.
The victim suffered a serious head injury but their condition was not immediately reported as life threatening.
Police closed several lanes on the highway which caused some delays.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
