Authorities Identify Elizabeth, Irvington Residents Killed in GSP Crash

Police have released the identities of a 56-year-old Elizabeth woman and 30-year-old Irvington man killed last night on the Garden State Parkway.

Police responded to the Garden State Parkway south of Exit 117 around 6:46 p.m. for a report of a crash.

Upon arrival, police found a 2001 Ford passenger van - occupied by 14 people - flipped over ejecting two of its occupants.

Elizabeth resident Esperanza Guardado-Quintani, 56, and Charles Derosier, 30, of Irvington were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, four of the remaining 12 passengers were flown to Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel with serious injuries. The remaining 8 suffered unspecified injuries.

Based on preliminary investigations, the driver of the vehicle, Manuel Perez, 58, of Elizabeth, lost control of the van, struck a guardrail and a cement support structure prior to flipping over. 

The crash remains under investigation.
