An emergency mock operational drill will take place at the Newark Fire Training Academy this morning according to authorities.
A host of emergency responders from • Newark Police Emergency Services, Newark Fire and Heavy Rescue, The Office of Emergency Management, NJ TRANSIT Emergency Services, University Hospital EMS and other emergency response companies where they will simulate a walkway collapse with injuries and trapped victims beginning at 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
According to authorities, the goal of the training presented by (TEEX) the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service is to help the participants develop their emergency management and decision-making skills necessary to effectively and safely support a large-scale incident through:
1. Decision making in the Emergency Operations Center
2. Managing Information in the Emergency Operation Center
3. National Incident Management System (NIMS) Planning Process and the Emergency Operation Center
4. Resource Acquisition of the Emergency Operation Center
5. Decision Making Exercises
