There is an active investigation underway into a police involved shooting that sent a man to the hospital overnight.
Details are beginning to develop this morning but according to initial reports, gunfire rang out inside an apartment in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Woodland Avenue at around 11:20 p.m. sending additional police units and EMS rushing to the scene where they located the victim shot at that location.
The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center reportedly suffering non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the leg and the forearm after police opened fire on the man reports said.
A police officer was transported to the hospital with breathing issues accordion got reports.
Two other officers were also taken to the hospital suffering unknown injuries.
According to authorities, the man was attacking his mother and choking her when police shot him inside the apartment. The suspect was allegedly armed with a knife.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene investigating.
