Paterson Man Charged with Sexual Assault, Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the arrest of a 33-year-old man accused of sexual assault and child endangerment.

Juan Flores, 33, of Paterson was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count of second degree sexual assault and two counts of third degree endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year old female child and for showing pornographic videos to a 12-year old male child.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Sexual assault charge carries a maximum term of ten years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence to be served before parole.

Endangering the welfare of a child charge carries a maximum term of five years in New Jersey State Prison. The Honorable Adam E. Jacobs, J.S.C., has set bail in Mr. Flores’ case at $300,000 with a no 10% option.

Flores’ first appearance was held today before the Honorable John F. Meola. J.M.C. The matter has been referred to the grand jury.
