Strong Armed Carjacking Reported in Newark's South Ward

There is an active investigation underway into a reported carjacking that happened overnight in the city's South Ward.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose confirmed the early stages of an investigation into the carjacking that happened in the area of Elizabeth Avenue and East Runyon Street shortly before 1:30 a.m.

According to initial reports, two black male suspects stole a vehicle by means of strong arm at that location.

The taken vehicle is only reported as a silver or light colored Buick.

There were no injuries reported or weapons shown reports said.

The incident is being investigated by the Newark Police Department.
