Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead in the city Wednesday evening.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the area of Whittaker Avenue and Elmer Street at around 6:45 p.m. where officers located the victim suffering injury from gunfire.
EMS rushed the victim to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in critical condition according to reports.
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later by medical staff at the hospital.
The identity of the victim and the motive for the shooting has not been released at this time.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office will handle the investigation.
