Police in Jersey City are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital overnight in the city.
Officials at Jersey City Medical Center contacted authorities when a male victim entered the hospital's emergency department suffering injury from gunfire according to reports.
The victim who arrived at the hospital shortly before 3 a.m. suffering a gunshot wound to the ankle, told authorities that the incident occurred in the area of West Side Avenue and Kensington Avenue.
Police checked the area and located a crime scene.
The victim was destined by authorities for questioning.
The latest shooting is the 9th confirmed shooting in the city since Thursday night.
