Child on Skateboard Struck, Killed by Car in Edison

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas J. Bryan of the Edison Police Department said today that an 11-year-old boy riding a skateboard was killed when he was struck by a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the township.

Askari Moore of Reading Road at the Durham Woods apartments was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at 7:18 p.m. Friday, after he was struck by the driver of a 2009 Honda Accord at about 7 p.m.

The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time since no charges have been filed.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
