Fatal Shooting in Elizabeth Under Investigation

A shooting that left one man dead and a second injured in Elizabeth over the weekend is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Monday.

The deceased victim has been identified as 28-year-old Darren Scott of Jersey City.

Elizabeth Police Department patrol units responding to a report of a fight rushed to the Allstar Nightclub on 3rd Street at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday and found Scott injured at the scene. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead early Monday morning.

A second man who was also struck by gunfire during the shooting was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Elizabeth Police Department, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, with assistance being provided by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
