A three-year-old boy is recovering in a Newark Hospital after he was struck by a vehicle that was reportedly fleeing the scene of shots fired in a Newark.
We've brought you information on Thursday evening on this incident that happened at around 9:15 p.m. in the 500 block of South 17th Street when cops were called to the scene on reports multiple rounds of shots fired.
Officers arrived to the scene where they located the boy suffering non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle that witnesses said was speeding away from the area after someone began to fire off a gun in the area.
According to witnesses, after the child was struck by the vehicle, the driver stopped to offer assistance but was physically attacked by an angry mob of people.
The injured boy was expected to make a full recovery according to family members.
The incident is under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
