A 21-year-old man indicted in the killing of a man on Astor Street last year was arrested Saturday morning, according to police.
On Sept. 28, 2015, police responded to the 200 block of Astor Street at approximately 7:37 a.m. on Sept. 28. for a report of a man found dead.
Upon arrival, police found the 57-year-old man, believed to be homeless, shot and severely burned.
Today, police responded to the 400 block of Hawthorne Avenue after a tip that Byron Solomon, 21, was at that location.
Solomon, who was already indicted, was arrested and turned over to the homicide task force of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
He was charged with murder, conspiracy and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose. His bail has been set at $800,000.
