Union officials are proud to announce the launch of the Township of Union Property Tax Reward Program (PTRP), an initiative of the Township of Union and the Union Center Special Improvement District (SID).
“This is a wonderful incentive for homeowners and renters alike to benefit from shopping local and patronizing all of the wonderful businesses we have around town,” said Mayor of Union Township.
Under the PTRP, homeowners shopping at local participating merchants, receive rebates on sales and services in the form of property tax credits. The more homeowners shop in their town, the more property tax credits they accumulate.
The program also benefits residents and visitors. Those registering their card as renters will receive a rebate check in the place of a property tax credit.
Currently there are more than 15 businesses in town participating in the program including everything from restaurants to entertainment and even gas stations.
“Communities thrive from the implementation of mutually beneficial programs like the Property Tax Reward Program,” said the Executive Director of the Union Center SID. “Aside from the personal financial benefit, programs like these help boost our local economy.”
PTRP kicks off on May 1st and the required PTRP cards will be available for pick-up at the Township of Union Clerk’s office, at Investors Bank, and at any of the participating locations.
