Authorities Identify Jersey City Man Killed As He Entered His Parked Car in Bayonne
Authorities today identified the 43-year-old Jersey City man, who was struck and killed by a pickup truck as he attempted to enter his parked car yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to the area of Kennedy Boulevard and 31st Street around 2:15 p.m., for a report of a person struck by a vehicle.
According to police, a 47-year-old Bayonne man driving a Ford F350 pickup truck north on Kennedy Boulevard struck David Porto who was entering his parked Nissan Wagon.
Porto was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck came to a halt at the corner of 32nd Street and Kennedy Boulevard after it caused a chain reaction crash involving three additional parked vehicles.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Bayonne Medical Center for treatment.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
