Police placed a man in custody late last night after a foot pursuit that yielded officers a weapon at a location in East Orange
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Martens Avenue had patrolling police officers converged on the scene at around 10:15 p.m. where they spotted a male suspect fleeing the scene.
Several officers began a foot pursuit where cops ultimately surrounded several blocks to capture the fleeing suspect.
Police setup a perimeter in the area where they thoroughly searched for a weapon and shell casings.
A gun and about two shell casings was recovered nearby.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
