NEWARK NJ: Police arrested a man and charged him with a home invasion burglary that happened in the city's West Ward last night.
The man was caught in the act when he forced his way inside a house located in the 1000 block of 18th Avenue at around 8 p.m.
Residents in the neighborhood watched as more than a dozen police units rushed to the scene where they took the man into custody after a brief struggle.
The man was believed to be heavily under the influence of narcotics during the incident according to reports.
One person was transported to University Hospital suffering a non-life threatening injury during the incident.
