Three Shot, One Dead in Night of Shooting Violence in Orange

A night of shooting violence that erupted in Orange ended in one person loosing their life overnight in the city.

Police rushed from several shooting scenes beginning with a shooting that was reported when suspects fired several rounds in the 600 block of Scotland Avenue at around 8:30 p.m.

It is not clear if anyone was injured at this location.

A short time later in the 300 block of Central Avenue, police responded to shots fired reports where officers arrived to find evidence of a shooting but could not immediately find a victim at this location. Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and a possible suspect.

Police that were assisting at the Central Avenue crime scene were rushed away to several calls of a shooting that rang out in the 200 block of Taylor Street at around 9:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found a grim scene where three male victims were shot with one of the victims suffering a life threatening gunshot wound to the chest according to reports.

The victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark where the most seriously wounded victim died a short time later.

Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office combed the area searching for evidence and attempted to find a motive for the shooting.

Residents in the area would only say that the fatally wounded victim was a young man (possibly a teen) that they have seen in the area several time before.

Over one hundred family and friends flooded the University Hospital's Emergency room attempting to get any additional information on the shooting victims had Rutgers police step up patrol for the unexpected large crowd.

All of the shootings are under investigation.
