Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the Newark Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of Shannon D. Seawright, 30, of Newark.
According to authorities, yesterday at approximately 8:11 p.m., Newark Police received a call of a shooting in progress in the vicinity of Frelinghuysen Avenue and East Peddie Street.
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim unresponsive suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.
Seawright was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:27 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
Authorities said this at time, no arrests have been made.
