Authorities are investigating a fatal late night shooting that happened near the Rutgers Newark Campus.
According to authorities, a campus student was fatally gunned down inside an apartment located on Central Avenue and Halsey Street at around 10 p.m.
EMS was stopped by a injured male victim who suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the back when they contacted police.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
A further investigation had cops locate one other person shot inside a house nearby. That victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police have detained three people but are looking for two other men.
One of the suspects had a beard and is believed to be wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans while the second suspect wore a brown jacket, tan Timberland boots, and was armed with a handgun.
Both men are approximately 5’9” tall and are around the ages of 20-25 years old.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are on the scene investigating.
