A vehicle that came under a hail of gunfire at a location in Irvington crashed in Newark early this morning.
Two people were transported to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries after the pair told authorities that and incident in Irvington forced them to speed away from the scene ultimately ending in a crash near the Garden State Parkway north entrance in Newark.
Emergency responders were called to the area of Maybaum Avenue and South Orange Avenue a little after 4 a.m. where they assisted the pair from the vehicle that crashed into a tree at that location.
Police immediately noticed the car was struck by gunfire but the victims were not shot according to reports.
There is an investigation underway.
