The Mayor, City Officials, The Community, and Orange Police kicked-off an event where the city's biking patrol unit will continue to keep residents safe while patrolling every neighborhood in the city.
According to public record, violent crime in Orange has drastically declined compared to this time in 2016.
Officials attributed the drop to City officers and the community working together to report criminal activity in several parts of the city.
Last year, around this time, we've counted about ten (10) shootings that fatally injured four (4).
Our request for public records for total homicide numbers from The Essex County Prosecutor's Office had the county promptly deliver these figures from January to July 2016 for Orange: Click the link **https://www.rlsmedia.com/article/homicide-investigations-numbers-essex-county**
A second request made by our legal team to the Prosecutor's Office asking for records showing homicides from August 2016 to December 30, 2016, had the agency deliver these numbers: Click the link **https://www.rlsmedia.com/article/part-ii-homicide-investigations-numbers-essex-county**
Orange Police along with county law enforcement agencies opened 2017 with weapon and drug raids that possibly resulted in today's numbers delivered after a request from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office for January to June numbers: Click the link **https://www.rlsmedia.com/article/open-public-records-act-reports-show-fifty-percent-drop-newark-homicides-maplewood-homicides**
Records show other instances of violent crime declining below fifty percent in the city.
Orange **Finest** Police, The Community, and City Officials were all instrumental in working at eradicating criminal activity in the town at this point.
