Newark authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of 44-year-old Hymifah Richardson, who is accused of stealing a dog from a residence on Norfolk Street on Saturday, January 18.
According to information released by the Newark Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when the victim allowed her Shih Tzu-poodle mix to roam freely in the front yard.
When the dog failed to return, surveillance footage revealed a woman, later identified as Richardson, taking the animal and walking south on Norfolk Street.
After investigating, detectives identified Richardson as the suspect.
She is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds.
Authorities have charged her with burglary, theft, and harassment.
