Woman Struck by Vehicle in Irvington

Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that sent a woman to the hospital this evening in Irvington.

Emergency responders rushed to the Auto Zone Parking lot located in the 1100 block of Springfield Avenue at around 6 p.m. where arriving crews found the woman seriously injured at that location.

The woman was transported to an area hospital where her injuries were not immediately reported as life threatening.

A second person was transported to the hospital suffering chest pains according to reports.

Witnesses in the area said that the sound of the vehicle striking the woman was initially believed to be gunfire because of how loud it sounded.

The vehicle that struck the victim did not stay at the scene reports said.

**UPDATE 10:41 p.m.** This was a vehicle that a female driver lost control of and struck two parked vehicles then hit a male pedestrian who suffered non-fatal injuries. The car was not visible at the scene after it continued rolling towards the back of the store and came to rest on a tree.

The female victim (seen on the stretcher) was a passenger in the out of control car, was checked for chest pains then transported to the hospital where she is expected to be ok. Police interviewed the driver of the vehicle at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
