Police in Newark notified the Essex County Sheriff's Office and informed them of a stabbing incident that occurred inside a county park located in the city’s North Ward early Sunday morning.
According to police, at around 4:30 a.m., officials at the Clara Maass Hospital notified police that a female victim entered the emergency department suffering a stab wound.
The woman told police that while she was walking through a section of the park, she was attacked by an unidentified assailant.
According to reports, the victim managed to get away from her attacker and self-transport to the hospital for treatment.
The incident is in the early stages of the investigation, and no arrests have been made.
