A female victim snatched from a vehicle at gunpoint late last night has police on the search for a suspect responsible for a violent carjacking in the city's Ironbound Section.
Police responded to reports of a carjacking that happened shortly before 10 p.m. in the 30's block of Marne Street where they arrived to find a female victim suffering minor injuries after being physically forced out of a vehicle at gunpoint.
According to the victim and other witnesses, a black male suspect entered the quiet neighborhood where he immediately scoped out a woman reportedly sitting in her vehicle at that location.
The suspect brandished a weapon then ordered the woman out of the vehicle. When the frantic woman did not move fast enough for the suspect, he violently snatched the victim out of the vehicle, forcing her onto the ground.
EMS were called to the scene where they evaluated the victim.
The carjacked vehicle has a reported NJ license plate number "M88-DNV"
The incident is under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
