Essex County authorities have officially reported that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the tragic vehicular death of Ms. Vitina Stern, 41, who is believed homeless in Newark.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, on Wednesday at approximately 4:28 a.m., the Newark police received a distressing report regarding a woman who appeared to have been struck by a garbage truck while lying on the ground at the 100 block of Clinton Avenue in Newark.
It was noted that the garbage truck was in the process of emptying a dumpster during the incident.
Tragically, Stern was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:23 a.m
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
