Police in Newark are looking for a suspect wanted for a shooting incident in a section of the city Thursday.
Officers responded to early morning reports of shots fired near the BP Gas Station near 591 Springfield Avenue around 2:10 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victims were injured at that location.
While police investigated the scene, officials at University Hospital informed officers that a female gunshot victim had entered the emergency.
Her injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.
