The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the search for the driver of a car that struck and fatally injured a woman on a street in Nutley on Thursday night.
Witnesses told RLS Media that the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Washington and Howe avenues.
According to witnesses, the woman was crossing near the Proponent Federal Credit Union when a vehicle sped through the area and struck her at that location.
Several good samaritans who found the severely injured unconscious and unresponsive victim lying in the street attempted to comfort her until EM arrived then provided CPR, according to witnesses.
The woman reportedly died a short time later from her injuries.
Officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
