Police are actively searching for a suspect wanted for robbing a woman for cash in Newark's Ironbound section this afternoon.
Officers responded to reports of a robbery in progress near 281 Ferry Street around 2:05 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering non-life-threatening injuries after a black male suspect approached and forced about $200 worth of cash from the victim.
The suspect fled the scene on foot towards Niagara wearing a green vest, grey sweatpants and a blue bandana.
The victim was physically attacked by the suspect before he ran from the scene and was last seen near the old Pathmark Supermarket.
Newark Police will handle the investigation.
