Nearly six hours later and officers remain at the scene of a barricade situation in Berlin.
According to authorities, at approximately 12 p.m. officers responded to a Jefferson Avenue residence after an area case worker requested assistance in removing a female resident to be taken for further evaluation/treatment.
Officials say when police attempted to make contact and remove the female but she barricaded herself. Officers remain at the scene.
At no time was any case worker harmed or held against their will. No other residents are inside and officers are working to resolve the situation.
